ABOUT ME....
My name is Sandy Whitney and I am the Resource Specialist at Baldwin Stocker Elementary. I grew up not too far from here, in a small town called La Canada. After living in Orange County for many years, I moved back to La Canada with my son about 5 years ago. He now attends the same elementary school that I went to as a child.
I graduated from the University of Southern California in 1994 with a B.A. in Psychology. After graduation, I worked as a residential counselor in a group home for troubled teens. Working closely with children inspired me to become a teacher. I earned my M.A. in Education from the University of Southern California in 1997. Soon after, I began teaching 4th grade at Camino Grove Elementary in Arcadia.
I left teaching in 2003, shortly after having my son. I spent the next 7 years raising him as a stay at home mom. When my son reached school age, I decided to follow my passion and become a special education teacher. I headed back to school and received my Education Specialist credential from California State University, Northridge in 2011. I was fortunate to be hired back by Arcadia Unified School District to teach the Resource Program (K-5) here at Baldwin Stocker Elementary. I am lucky to work for a district and a community that is so supportive of their teachers. I couldn’t ask for anything better! It is a privilege to work with your children each and every day.
